A unique action-packed family day of activities and entertainment on and by the sea. Welcome aboard!
Come along and enjoy the Seafarer's Festival, it's a dynamic day of activities for water lovers and landlubbers alike.
The Seafarer's Festival features quirky and traditional races on the water, and music and drama on the boardwalk stage, including a rare Hobart performance at 1:45pm of the interactive stage drama The Ship That Never Was written by Richard Davey and produced by The Round Earth Company.
There are plenty of activities and competitions for children, seafaring information and craft displays, and a wide selection of culinary delights at the many Tasmanian food and beverage stalls.
Encourage the children to dress up as convict or captain, sailor or settler for the costume competition, which is judged at approximately 2:20pm.
In 2007 the Seafarers Festival celebrated the 200th anniversary of the arrival of over 500 settlers from Norfolk Island. Their arrival in Hobart Town doubled the population of the Van Diemen's Land colony to over 900 persons.
