The play Dimboola was written by Jack Hibberd in the late 1960s and the Dimboola Dinner Show will be held on 12 December. It is said to be Australia's 'most performed' production, with more Australians seeing Dimboola than any other musical, comedy or play. The play is set in the country and is the celebration of the wedding of Morrie McAdam (the protestant) to Reen Delaney (the catholic). No holds barred as the two families come together for the wedding which Jack Hibberd calls, “the testing of insults and punches as they resolve to come to terms with the situation”.
Dimboola's appeal stems from its unique presentation with inclusion of the audience as the 'wedding guests'. The audience shares all the events and intimacies of Morrie and Reen's big day. When guests arrive at a performance of Dimboola they are in for some outrageous fun.
