The aquatic theme features strongly in the region’s event calendar as well. The Festival of Whales, in March, celebrates the beginning of the annual whale migration along Australia's east coast and includes music, street entertainment and daily whale-watch cruises. Also in March is The Myall Prawn Festival featuring the World Prawn Eating Championship, boat races, art exhibition and more.
